Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 25, 2026

This policy explains what information Slaydate collects, why we collect it, and how it is used. Slaydate is operated by Fae Software Inc., based in Ontario, Canada. If you have questions, email hello@slaydate.app.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service:

  • Account information. Your name and email address when you sign up or are invited.
  • Event data. Events, rooms, signups, assignments, and stories that you create or that others create about events you attend.
  • Story content. Game scripts, narratives, and grimoire images uploaded directly or pushed from the Blocktower companion app.
  • Authentication data. Magic link tokens and session identifiers used to keep you signed in. We do not store passwords.
  • Operational logs. IP address, user agent, and basic request metadata used to keep the Service running and protect it from abuse. Retained for a limited period.
  • Analytics. We use Plausible Analytics for aggregate site usage. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across sites.

How we use it

  • To run events and waitlists, deliver magic link sign-ins, and send transactional emails (signup confirmations, room assignments, reminders, story notifications).
  • To support the Blocktower API integration so Storytellers can sync rosters and push back game stories.
  • To fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
  • To respond to questions you send us.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as described below.

Who sees your information

  • Event organizers. When you sign up for an event, the organizer of that event sees your name, email, and any notes you submit.
  • Storytellers. Storytellers connected to your event see the player roster for the rooms they run.
  • Other attendees. Stories from games played at an event are viewable by attendees of that event via a shareable link.

Service providers

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Slaydate. They process information on our behalf, only as needed to provide their service:

  • Postmark for transactional email delivery.
  • DigitalOcean for hosting and object storage of grimoire images and other uploads.
  • Plausible Analytics for cookie-free site analytics.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the Service to function: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a CSRF token to prevent cross-site request forgery. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Event and story data is kept so that organizers and attendees can refer back to past events. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your personal information and disassociate your identity from past event data within thirty days, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To make a request, email hello@slaydate.app. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Slaydate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete the account.

International transfers

Slaydate is hosted in Canada and the United States. If you use the Service from outside these regions, your information will be transferred to and processed there.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know by email or by a notice on the Service. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
